This post will be pretty short because I woke up with a cold and a pounding headache so I stayed inside all day today.
Yesterday was a lot of climbing. About 5 miles of it and about half of that was on dirt. Pushing my cart proved to be quite difficult on normal pavement but dirt and sand was a whole other level. Luckily, I had some paracord in my bag so I decided to use it to my advantage. I tied the rope to either side of the frame of my cart and got in front of it. I assume I looked just like a Husky in the Iditarod race. I pulled that big ass cart up those hills inch by inch. Turns out pulling is WAY easier than pushing because when you push the front digs into the hill. When I finally thought I was free of the hills the universe had to get one more laugh in, I ran into about a 1/2 mile of sand. Needless to say, I was exhausted by the end of the day. Luckily I have a relative in Apple Valley who was able to pick me up and I passed out just a few minutes after eating dinner.
BTW if anyone knows someone in Helendale or Barstow, that will be coming up in my next few stops and a lawn to sleep on would be great!
